Roberts Police Dept. investigating burglary
The Roberts Police Department, assisted by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department, is investigating a residential burglary at 1110 Cheyenne St. in the Village of Roberts.
According to reports, the homeowner left the residence at around 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, and returned at 9:40 p.m., and discovered that two television sets, along with video game materials, were missing.
In addition, a vehicle was allegedly taken from the garage, and another taken from the front driveway. The two vehicles taken were a 2004 Cadillac and 2006 Dodge Magnum.
According to Roberts Police Chief Ricci Prein, one of the vehicles was tagged as disabled by the Minnesota State Patrol. Once the vehicle was broadcast as stolen, it was recovered by Minnesota law enforcement. All of the electronic equipment and other valuables were stripped from the vehicle.
Prein also said that he was contacted shortly after 2 a.m. Jan. 22 by St. Paul police who had found the other vehicle. The vehicle was also stripped of all of its contents.
Prein met with law enforcement officials from Minnesota Tuesday morning about collecting evidence from the two vehicles.
"We'll see what we can get from them," Prein said of the evidence left in the vehicles. "It's my understanding they have been pretty much stripped."
Anyone having observed any activity in the neighborhood during that time is asked to contact the Roberts Police Department at 749-3467 Ext. 112. Persons with information may remain anonymous.
