Rodeo set to return for June run
This year's Dodge Rodeo will be bigger and better than ever.
Again brought to St. Croix County by the Barnes Rodeo Stock Company, the 2010 Rodeo will take place the weekend of June 18-19 at the St. Croix County Fairplex, Glenwood City. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. each day, with activities before and after.
Advanced tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for kids (5-12) and free for age 4 and younger. At the gate tickets are $13 for adults, $9 for kids and free for 4 and younger.
Alexa Hoffman of Glenwood City has been selected as this year's St. Croix Valley PRCA Rodeo Queen.
Hoffman, a senior at Glenwood City High School, is currently active in the FFA chapter, president of the Sunnyside Shamrock 4-H Club and a 4-H Ambassador.
Next fall Alexa plans on attending Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, Iowa to major in equine management.
As a horse owner and enthusiast, Hoffman spends time riding and training horses. Since she was young, Hoffman has been going to rodeo competitions with her family and friends, and enjoys watching her cousin compete.
For Hoffman, barrel racing and bull riding are favorite rodeo events. Look for Hoffman in area parades and in the queen's ride at this year's rodeo.
Again this year rodeo organizers will be celebrating military heroes Friday Night with a special opening tribute. Following the Friday rodeo performance Hillbilly Mafia will play.
Saturday is family night featuring nickel, boot and calf scrambles for young buckaroos. Following the Saturday performance will be an awesome fireworks display. Both night's young lads and lassies will get a chance to enter Muttin Bustin.
