Following a closed-door session of the St. Croix Central School Board Monday night, Superintendent Tim Widiker announced the board had accepted the resignation of elementary school principal Dr. Heidi Weisert-Peatow effective immediately.

No reason for her resignation was given. Retired principal Steve Sanders will act as interim elementary school principal effective immediately. Widiker did not know when the search for a new principal will begin.

Widiker declined comment on the reason for Weisert-Peatow’s resignation.

As of Tuesday morning, Weisert-Peatow’s information was removed from the school’s website staff directory and Sanders’ was added.

Widiker sent a note home with students Tuesday afternoon that said: “At last night’s regular meeting, the SCC School Board accepted the resignation of Dr. W-P. Mr. Steve Sanders will serve as Interim Elementary Principal for the remainder of the school year.”

Weisert-Peatow was hired last April after Sanders announced his retirement effective at the end of the 2012-13 school year. She officially began as principal July 1.

Neither Weisert-Peatow nor Sanders could not be immediately reached for comment.
