Semis crash on I-94
Two semi trucks crashed on Interstate 94 at mile marker 120 in Jackson County near Black River Falls at around 5:08 p.m. Tuesday, July 30.
According to a press release from the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crashed occurred when a TGL Logistics Inc. semi, which was parked on the shoulder of I-94 due to engine failure, was struck in the rear by a Werner Enterprises Inc. semi.
The Werner semi, driven by Jim J. Brown, 52, of Ramsey, Minn., continued into the median and caught on fire. The driver was able to escape from the unit with non-life threatening injuries. The semi tractor was destroyed in the fire.
The TGL Logistics Inc. semi, driven by Aleksandr N. Napelenok, 28, Ramsey, Minn., sustained heavy damage to the trailer. The driver was not injured.
The collision shut down the eastbound traffic. Traffic was rerouted on State Highway 54 to U.S. 12. The interstate reopened at 8 p.m.
Assisting agencies included Black River Falls Fire, Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Jackson Couty Highway Department.
The crash remains under investigation.
