Seven New Richmond Tiger Sharks swim in Minnesota state meet
Seven members of the New Richmond Area Tiger Sharks swam in the Minnesota State Youth Swim Meet on July 29-30 at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
Brady Bennett (1 event) - Boys 13-14 50 Meter Freestyle - Final time 28.05;
Caleb Eastep (4 events) - Boys 8 & Under 50 Meter Freestyle - Final time 44.58, 100 Meter Freestyle - Final time 1:41.31, 50 Meter Backstroke - Final time 52.84, 50 Meter Butterfly Final time 52.54;
Cole Eastep (1 event) - Boys 9-10 50 Meter Freestyle - Final time 42.63;
Sarah Sylte (1 event) - Girls 13-14 50 Meter Freestyle - Final time 30.33.
One relay team qualified to swim at state. The 13-14 year-old team consisted of Lydia Anez (13), Bre Coerber (13), Camille Hall (14) and Sarah Sylte (13).
The girls team participated in three events.
Girls 13-14 200 Meter Freestyle Relay - Final time 2:10.86;
Girls 13-14 400 Meter Freestyle Relay - Final time 4:52.87;
Girls 13-14 400 Meter Medley Relay - Final time 5:46.24.
The team co-coaches for the New Richmond Area Tiger Sharks are Melissa Schulze and Ryan Sherley, with assistant coach Peter Brudzinski.
The New Richmond Area Tiger Sharks are a swim team designed to focus on the four major competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. The Tiger Shark Swim Team will work to develop skills, techniques and proper training enabling all swimmers to compete. The Tiger Sharks believe in working toward developing positive attitudes, responsibility, leadership, goal setting and self-discipline. They have swimmers from the following cities: Amery, Deer Park, Houlton, New Richmond, Roberts, Somerset and Star Prairie.
