Shed, farm equipment destroyed in fire
Several local fire departments responded to reports of a shed fire in Emerald on Saturday, Oct. 8.
The Deer Park Fire Department was paged at about 2 a.m., according to Duke Krueger, Deer Park fire chief.
"A passerby saw the fire and stopped and woke the owners up," he said.
When crews arrived on scene at 1840 240th St. in Emerald, a large shed and three other small buildings were fully engulfed in flames, he said. Crews were on scene until 6:30 a.m.
"The shed was a total loss, with a couple of tractors, grain truck and some other small machinery lost in the shed," Krueger said.
The garage next to the house was also damaged.
According to property reports, the property is owned by Jim and Sharleen Croes.
Also responding to the scene were New Richmond, Clear Lake, Baldwin and Hammond.
