The driver of a pickup truck lost control of the vehicle on a small bridge on County Road E crossing the Willow River Thurday morning. The westbound truck spun around and rolled onto its roof in the eastbound ditch.

The driver suffered cuts on one of his hands, but otherwise didn't appear to be seriously injured. He was standing next to an unmarked St. Croix County Sheriff's Department car, waiting for a tow truck to arrive about 15 or 20 minutes after the accident.

A St. Croix County Highway Department truck was also on the scene, putting sand and salt on the bridge deck.

The freezing rain and sleet that fell Wednesday night made road surfaces - especially bridge decks - slippery.

The rollover on County E happened just east of County Road A in the town of St. Joseph, a couple of miles northeast of Burkhardt, shortly after 8 a.m.

Minutes later, the sheriff's department was called to a crash on County Road H, where a vehicle had struck and knocked down a power pole.

At about 9:12 a.m., a vehicle was reported to have gone off County Road I.
