Somerset baseball advances to regional final on Lueck's no-hitter

The Somerset baseball team has advanced to Friday's WIAA Division 2 regional finals, when the Spartans will host Osceola. Somerset will host Friday's game at 5 p.m. at Larry Forrest Park.

The Spartans defeated Amery 3-0 on Wednesday in the second round of regional action. Osceola advanced by beating top-seeded Arcadia 2-0.

Somerset rode the lightning-fast pitching of junior Tyler Lueck to Wednesday's win. Lueck was overpowering, throwing a no-hitter. Amery had one major threat, getting runners to second and third with one out in the fifth inning, but Lueck pitched out of the jam.

The Spartans also had their troubles hitting against Amery lefthander Bennet Paulson. The first two Somerset runners scored on wild pitches and the third run scored on an Amery throwing error.
