At approximately 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, Clear Lake officer received a complaint of "threats and stalking." After clearing from this call, the Clear Lake officer sent out an "attempt to locate" to surrounding area police agencies, including the Polk County Sheriff's Office, on a 2004 Chevy Impala registered to Justin L. Patrick, 30, of Somerset.

According to a press release, a Polk County Sheriff's Office deputy sheriff observed the vehicle in the City of Amery at 10:06 p.m. The deputy engaged his lights and siren in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The driver failed to stop and attempted to elude the deputy.

At this time the deputy called in the pursuit. The suspect drove northbound on Highway 46 and then westbound on U.S. Highway 8. Speeds at times were in excess of 100 mph and several vehicles were forced off the roadway by the suspect.

Other responding agencies were able to deploy spike strips near U.S. Highway 8 and Highway 35 North, but even though multiple tires were deflated, the vehicle continued at high speeds. The chase continued into Chisago County, Minn., where deputies of Chisago County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota State Patrol took the lead position.

While in Minnesota, Minnesota law enforcement again deployed stop sticks at the intersection of U.S. Highway 8 and County Road 22, which the Patrick vehicle struck again. The Patrick vehicle continued to flee westbound on U.S. Highway 8 to Forest Lake where the vehicle entered onto Interstate 35. The Patrick vehicle continued south on I-35W to the point where the driver lost control and slid into the median.

The driver, identified as Justin Lee Patrick, 30 of Somerset, was taken into custody by a Minnesota State Patrol trooper. He will likely be facing charges in Minnesota as well as Wisconsin. Patrick is currently being held in Chisago County Jail.
