MADISON - All three Somerset wrestlers advanced through the preliminary round of the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament Thursday at the Kohl Center.

Bobby Leroy scored two two-point takedowns in the second and third periods to eventually beat Sparta's Brock Polhamus 9-6 at 120 pounds. Gabe Flandrick dominated his 138-pound match against Dodgeville's Jasper Meeker from start to finish for a 6-1 win and Austin Bushinger's takedown after a throw in the second period was enough to put him in front of Southern Door's Nolan Wagner 3-2 for good at 152.

These three Spartan wrestlers will join teammate Haydon Dvorak competing in the quarterfinals today starting at 11 a.m.

Leroy faces Campbellsport's Ryan Costello (Jr., 38-1); Flandrick faces Valders's Stetson McCauley (Jr. 40-5); Bushinger takes on defending state champion, Sheboygan Falls's Lucas Lambrecht (Sr. 34-2) and Dvorak's first match of the tournament will be against Brady Huenink of Waupun (40-5, Jr.).

Winners wrestle in tonight's semifinals starting at 7 p.m. while those who lose will wrestle again in the afteroon's consolation round beginning at 2:45 p.m.
