The efforts of two Somerset first responders and one police officer has not gone unnoticed. Sen. Sheila Harsdorf was at the Town of Somerset board meeting on April 4 to present first responders Chris Brunell, Sr., Chris Brunell, Jr. and police officer Josh Hecht with thank you awards for them risking their lives to save a woman who was caught in the St. Croix River High Bridge, 182-feet above the frozen water, on Feb. 15.

The Brunells and Hecht received a thank you letter from Sen. Herb Kohl, a certificate of commendation from Gov. Scott Walker and a citation by the Legislature, on the motion of Harsdorf and State Rep. Erik Severson, thanking them for their efforts. In addition to the state recognition, the Brunells and Hecht each received a Life Saving Award from their respective departments.
