Somerset students star in PowerUp video
It’s no secret there are some all stars in the Somerset School District. The PowerUp health initiative agrees, and used Somerset students in a video it produced about why staying healthy and active is an important part of life.
The PowerUp health initiative, sponsored by the Lakeview Foundation, recently partnered with students in the St. Croix Valley area and surrounding communities to produce the video. The cast was made up of students in the St. Croix Valley and surrounding communities.
According to Lainie Steffen, external communications coordinator for Lakeview Health (HealthPartners Family of Care), the students were nominated by leaders within the Stillwater and Somerset school districts, then selected by a team of PowerUp committee members.
Somerset High School students Gaelin Elmore and Hannah Rosentreter are featured, as well as Somerset Elementary students Grace Parnell, Owen Parnell, Mia Olson, Ella Olson and Zianna Rivard.
According to the PowerUp website, “PowerUp is a community-wide youth health initiative to make better eating and active living easy, fun and popular, so that our youth can reach their full potential. PowerUp is a long-term commitment to create change over 10 years in partnership with schools, businesses, health care, civic groups, families, kids and the entire community.”
