New Richmond and Somerset both were part of the American team in the All-Star Game. The American team lost to the National team 10-9.

Each team chose an MVP. Cunningham was named the American MVP after he hit a double and a triple in the game. He could have had three hits in the game. But a line shot that he hit up the middle hit the base umpire and was declared a dead ball, denying him of a third hit.

Cunningham was joined on the team by Tommy Grygienc, who made several sharp defensive plays at second base.

New Richmond was represented in the game by Noah Berger, Caleb Manecke and Cole Peterson. Berger was the starting pitcher for the American team. When he completed his three innings, the American team was leading 6-2.

Berger and Peterson both had one hit in the game. Manecke was the starting catcher for the American team, working the first five innings.

The New Richmond and Somerset Legion boys will see each other again this Thursday. The two teams are scheduled to play a double-header at Larry Forrest Park in Somerset, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Both teams will be back in action next Tuesday. New Richmond will host Cumberland for two games, while Somerset travels to Grantsburg for a pair of games.
