Somerset's Jeremy Kelly a finalist for WSN state award
Somerset senior Jeremy Kelly is one of five finalists for the Joe Thomas Award, given by the state sports website wissports.com.
The award is given to the top senior high school lineman in Wisconsin each year. The award is named after former Brookfield Central and University of Wisconsin athlete Joe Thomas, who is now a top offensive tackle in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns.
Kelly has been a standout on both sides of the line for the Spartans the past two years. At 6 foot, 6 inches and 240 pounds, he has the size colleges are looking for. He has received scholarship offers from Illinois State and Southern Illinois and has a number of other colleges looking at him.
Kelly is one of two Middle Border Conference players who are up for wsn.com state awards. Baldwin-Woodville linebacker Jake Keefer is one of five finalists for the John Anderson Award, which is given to the top senior linebacker in the state.
