The southeast third of Wisconsin is in for its biggest snowstorm of the season. Up to 12 inches are being predicted in Racine and Kenosha counties tonight and Friday.

Milwaukee expects 9-10 inches, Madison 7-9 inches, and everywhere else but the far north can expect 3-9 inches.

At least some schools have moved their athletic events for tonight to earlier times, so they won't have to postpone or cancel them.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for tonight and Friday morning southeast of a line from Viroqua to Green Bay.

A winter-weather advisory is in effect from west central through northeast Wisconsin. Those who don't get snow will get brutal cold temperatures instead.

It was 20 below zero in Land O'Lakes at 5 a.m. today. Wind chills in Bayfield today could get down to 35 below zero, and 30 below in Superior.

The weather service says the snow will arrive when a low-pressure system from the Rocky Mountains moves into northern Missouri tonight.

A break is expected Friday night and Saturday but forecasters say another major storm could hit the Badger State on Sunday.
