State Democratic leaders choose sides in presidential race
With the primary just nine months away, more Wisconsin leaders are choosing sides in the presidential race.
Kathleen Falk, Dane County executive, leads a group which announced its support Monday for New York Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Matt Flynn, former state Democratic Party chairman, and Tom Loftus, University of Wisconsin regent, who's a former Assembly speaker and U.S. ambassador to Norway, also support Clinton.
Falk calls Clinton strong, smart and battle-tested. Loftus said Clinton understands the challenges faced by diverse states like Wisconsin, which rely on a mix of farming, urban industry and small business for its overall growth
Last month, another group of well-known Democrats got behind former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards. That group included former Gov. Tony Earl and Rep. David Obey, D-Wausau.
The state's primary is next February.
