The second similar program is offered to Youth Hockey athletes at the New Richmond Airport.

These programs are offered at no extra charge to participating athletes. Funding is provided by the School District and the Hockey Association.

Both programs are run by Nicole Deneau, a certified strength and conditioning specialist and fitness director for The Training Room in Somerset, Wis. The goals of the programs include increasing lean muscle mass, improving speed, strength, core stability, balance, vertical jump, agility and lots of fun.

"We are not trying to turn these student athletes into bodybuilders or power lifters," Deneau said. "Instead our goal is to build more efficient and fit athletes who stay healthy and avoid sitting on the bench due to injury."

The Tiger Strength program offers training sessions four days a week in the High School weight room and one day a week it is offered at the Middle School.

The Youth Hockey program is available to boys and girls age 6 - 18 and meets once weekly for one hour. As an additional benefit OSI Physical Therapists, Brent Larson, PT, SCS and Shari Walters, PT, OCS, offer free injury checks on Monday nights from 6-7 p.m. at the New Richmond Airport Hangar.

New Richmond Head Varsity Hockey Coach Adam Swanda commented on the program, "Nicole and the whole staff at OSI and The Training Room have exceeded all of my expectations of core training and therapy. Their dedication to the advancement of our training program(s) and commitment to the success of our athletes is second to none."

The Training Room is located with OSI Physical Therapy at 709 Rivard Street in Somerset. The Training Room is a fitness facility that is designed to offer personal attention and individualized fitness programs.
