Students use imagination to advance to state event

Three Destination Imagination teams from New Richmond schools will compete at the state competition this year.

Two New Richmond High School teams competed in the Regional Destination Imagination competition Saturday, March 28, at Hudson Middle School.

The team of Cheyanne Joachim, Patty Nelson, Yvette Hagel, Angela Tenner, Jacqueline Schultz, Gabes Rabb and Susan Kilian placed first in "Instinct Messaging."

Evan Baczynski, Collin Lieffort, Ben Johnston, Carrie Powell, Anna Swanson, Maria Nelson and Jackson Scott placed second in "ViDIo Lit Hits."

Two New Richmond Elementary teams competed this past Saturday as well.

The "New Angle" team of Aaron Anderson, Caswell Crowder, Alaina Kuhlman, Sophie Littfin, Keith Magler, and Miah Olson, placed second. The coaches are Steve and Teresa Anderson.

The "ViDIo Lit Hits" team of Elizabeth Suo, Breelyn Karno, Ashley Christianson, Matt Blietz, Mikayla Johnson did a great job but did not place. They are coached by Kim Suo.

An enormous amount of hard work, team effort and cooperation, and time commitment from both the students and the coaches went into preparing for this competition.

The three teams will be competing at the state competition in Stevens Point on April 18.
