Teen dies in St. Croix crash
A 17-year-old Woodville girl died in a one-car accident in St. Croix County early Saturday morning.
According to the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department, Alyssa E. Hagen, 17, Woodville, was driving a Pontiac Grand Prix just north of I-94 on 220th Street near 55th Avenue in the town of Baldwin shortly after 12 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21. She lost control of the car, went onto the shoulder of the southbound lane and came back onto the road. The car then rolled and landed on its roof in a ditch on the east side of the road.
Hagen was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Croix County medical examiner.
Her passenger, Benjamin J. Grosz, 18, Baldwin, was wearing his seatbelt and suffered minor injuries.
This is St. Croix's fourth traffic fatality of the year. The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were United Fire and Rescue, Baldwin EMS and the Baldwin, Hammond and Woodville police departments.
Services for Hagen will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church, Baldwin. Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley, is handling arrangements.
