Things are hopping at Hammond Library
Things are hopping at the Hammond Community Library this year! We have so many wonderful upcoming and ongoing programs for everyone in the community. To continue our programs, we need your help. The library is in need of donations for several upcoming events; these items can be dropped off at the front desk of the library during regular hours.
Coming up in July, the Friends of the Library is hosting a Christmas in July garage sale to raise money for library programs and resources. Bring your new or gently-used Christmas decorations, ornaments, working lights, wreaths, gift bags - anything holiday related - to the library at any time. Clean out that basement, attic or garage and benefit your local library at the same time! Save the date: this event is scheduled for Thursday, July 16 and Friday, July 17.
We are also currently collecting donations of new or gently-used Halloween costumes, masks, wigs and accessories for our Third Annual Costume Swap on Saturday, Oct. 3. Bring your items to the library, and we will store them for you until our event this fall. Then, be sure to join us for the swap.
New to the Costume Swap this year is the addition of selling holiday clothing for children! You know the ones - the dresses, outfits and shoes that your kids are only able to wear for one holiday or event, then they outgrow? Bring your donations of new or gently-used Christmas, Easter, wedding and first communion dresses and apparel for children or baptismal gowns. These items will be put to good use by another family while benefiting the library.
Aside from the special event donations, the library hosts numerous children's events and fundraisers throughout the year. The library has an ongoing wish list of items we need on a regular basis.
