Senior goalie Jordan Langness, junior forward Adam Marty and junior defenseman Drew Kelly were all accorded with honorable mention all-state honors.

Langness had the best season by a goalie in Somerset hockey history. He stopped 93 percent of the shots he faced this season, the best mark in team history. Langness has also made the Section 1 Senior Team that is playing in the Team Wisconsin tournament in Waupun.

Marty's versatility was a key ingredient in Somerset's success this season. Marty has proven that he can play forward and defense at a high level. He played primarily at forward this season, but there were several games when he was shifted back to defense when the team needed a boost there. There were also numerous times late in games when Marty was shifted back to defense to help preserve leads.

Kelly emerged this season as the Spartans' defensive leader. He averaged more than 30 minutes per game in anchoring the Spartan blue line. He also finished as the fourth leading scorer on the Spartans this season.

This is the second time Somerset has had three players receive all-state honors in one year. The first time was in 1996, when Dan Gilkerson, Trent Landry and Jade Parnell were all named as all-state players. Gilkerson and Landry were first team all-state players and Parnell was an honorable mention selection.

All-MBC hockey

New Richmond and Somerset both had five players receive honors on the 2013 All-Middle Border Conference hockey team.

Making the All-MBC first team for New Richmond was senior defenseman Austin Zywiec and junior forward Tanner Wisemiller. Somerset's selections for the All-MBC first team were senior goalie Jordan Langness, junior forward Adam Marty, junior defenseman Drew Kelly and sophomore forward Reed Kelly.

Earning honorable mention all-conference status for New Richmond was senior defenseman Kaleb Kier and senior forwards Michael Bodsberg and Tyler Lagerstrom. Somerset junior forward Jesse Brown was also an honorable mention choice.
