Tiger dance team earns trip to state

The Tiger dance team will compete in the state competition on Saturday in La Crosse.

The New Richmond High School dance team is headed to state, in both the kick and pom divisions.

On Saturday the Tiger dance team took part in the Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches regional competition held at Eau Claire North High School.

The Tigers won the regional championship in the kick division competition and they placed second in the pom division competition. This qualifies the girls for state competition in both of these divisions.

"The girls were excited and their goal of making it to state was evident as they competed on Saturday," said dance team coach Ali Saliny. "Being name regional champs was a very rewarding and proud moment for our team and our school."

In the kick division, New Richmond took first place with a score of 395. Second place went to Adams-Friendship with a score of 372. There were nine teams in the kick division. The Tigers took second place in the pom division among seven teams. Their score of 394 missed first place by 15 points.

The WACPC State Competition will take place this Saturday in La Crosse.
