What could have been an awkward situation showed the poise of the Tiger dancers. At the awards announcement, it was initially announced that the Tigers had placed third in the kick division. The Tigers received the third place trophy and medals. It wasn't until the awards ceremony was over and the team was packing to leave that coach Ali Saliny was informed of the error.

The WACPC state president informed the Tigers of the error on their team bus.

"To see how they handled it and held their heads high says so much about the kind of kids they are," Saliny said.

The Tigers placed fourth in the kick division with 448 points. Little Chute won the Division 2 kick title with 482 points.

The day started for the girls by competing in the pom division. The Tigers earned 449 points to place sixth among the 14 teams in Division 3. Notre Dame Academy of Green Bay won the division with 496 points.

Saliny said this is a young Tiger team and their anxiousness and excitement showed in their pom performance. She said the kick division was where the Tigers showed themselves at their best.

"We had our best performance at state," Saliny said.

Eighteen girls compete in the pom team for the Tigers and 21 compete in the kick team.

Saliny said the team has six more performances planned at Tiger basketball games this season. She said there is also the possibility that the dance team could perform at a Tiger hockey game.

All-State

Three Tiger girls earned WACPC All-State honors in La Crosse.

Rylie Berger, Antje Utgaard and Erika Bohmke were named to the All-State Team.

Four Tiger girls auditioned for the All-State Team. Each girl who has hopes of being all-state does a two-minute individual audition before state judges. The top scorers earn the All-State designation.
