Tiger Sharks plan youth triathlon
The New Richmond Area Tiger Sharks youth swim program is bringing a new event to the area.
The Tiger Sharks have announced plans for its first Youth Triathlon on Sept. 25. The event will be for boys and girls ages 5-16. The event will be held at The Centre.
There is early bird registration of $25 by Sept. 10. Registration will be $30 after that day.
The event will start with registration and swimming at The Centre. Biking will be the next portion of the event, following various age appropriate routes. The triathlon will be completed with age-appropriate runs around the track at the old high school.
There will be four age brackets that kids can compete in.
Kids ages 5-6 will swim 25 yards, bike one-half mile and run one-eighth of a mile.
Kids ages 7-9 will swim 50 yards, bike 1.5 miles and run one-quarter of a mile.
Kids ages 10-12 will swim 100 yards, bike 2.5 miles and run a half-mile.
Kids in ages 13-16 will swim 150 yards, bike 2.5 miles and run one mile.
Race check-in will be from 11-11:30 a.m. at The Centre, at 428 South Starr Avenue. Races begin at 11:45 a.m. at The Centre pool.
The top three male and female finishers in each age bracket will receive an award.
