The juggling continues as New Richmond's boys tennis team searches for a lineup to take through the rest of the season.

The Tigers hosted a quad tournament on Saturday against Stillwater, Baldwin-Woodville and Ellsworth. The Tigers were able to beat Ellsworth, while losing matches to Stillwater and B-W.

There were more shifts in the lineup for the tournament. Jordan Fredrickson saw his first play at singles, swapping places with Jeff Engel, who saw his first time in doubles.

Engel and Charlie Bohl spent most of the season as the top two singles players. Bohl had recently been moved to doubles, with Engel following him this weekend.

Bohl and Engel were able to win all three of their matches in Saturday's tournament.

"We were the strength of the tournament at this flight," Montello said.

Fredrickson took one of his three matches against Ellsworth. Montello said Fredrickson showed promise, especially in his loss to B-W senior Tommy Thompson.

"Jordan has a shot, when it is in, that is a thing of beauty," Montello said.

With the lineup movement, a player who takes on a bigger role is senior Andy Ronning, who is now playing at two singles. He handled the move flawlessly Saturday, winning all three of his matches. Among his wins was a 6-2, 6-1 win over Baldwin-Woodville's Jordan Howard.

"The most surprising result of the day," Montello said of that match. "Andy frustrated Howard with his patience, but he could be aggressive when the situation called for it. This was maybe Andy's best overall match of his career."

Montello is hoping for more consistent play from the number two doubles team of Cory Eller and Shawn Anderson, who began the season as the one doubles duo. They were impressive in beating Stillwater's two doubles team in two sets. But they were beaten by Ellsworth and B-W in two sets.

Montello said there may be more movement within the Tiger lineup.

"I will move players until I can find the right mix and hopefully we are close to that," he said.
