Time to renew on Wisconsin's "No Call" list

Officials from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection say Wisconsinites should re-register their telephone number with the state's No Call list if they want to keep telemarketers at bay.

"People should renew annually on the state's No Call list," said Glenn Loyd, a DATCP spokesman.

He added that while registration on the list is good for two years, it is a good practice to re-register annually on a specific date - like a birthday or a holiday.

"People can re-register online: https://nocall.wisconsin.gov or just call 1-866-966-2255," Loyd said.

Wisconsin's No Call list was activated in January 2003 and by registering their phone numbers on the list, state residents can prevent their number from being used by telemarketers.

Exceptions are made for existing customers of a business, non-profit organizations and calls made for non-business purposes such as polls.
