Tornado watch issued for St. Croix County
The National Weather Service has Issued tornado watch for St. Croix County and the surrounding area until 4 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 14).
The watch Includes nine In western Wisconsin: Barron, Polk, Rusk, Chippewa, Dunn, Eau Claire, Pepin, Pierce and St. Croix.
The watch means tornadoes; hail to 2.5 inches in diameter; thunderstorm with wind gusts up to 70 mph; and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas.
A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.
Officials report that storms are developing west of the Twin Cities and moving toward western Wisconsin. Be prepared to move to safety in case bad weather erupts.
