Preliminary autopsy results on the body of a Baldwin woman found in Pine Lake Sunday morning indicates she was heavily intoxicated before she apparently fell into the water and drowned.

A press release issued by the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department Tuesday afternoon stated Kristelle M. Wolle's blood alcohol content was .216 percent when she died of freshwater drowning.

Subsequent investigation turned up that Wolle had been out with friends the previous evening and the last contact others had had with her was at 2:19 a.m., at a bar in the Village of Baldwin.

Deputies learned of the one-vehicle crash in the town of Hammond about 5 a.m., Sunday. A newspaper carrier saw her vehicle in a ditch and called police.

Reports indicate the woman’s car hit a power pole near her home’s driveway. Deputies speculate fog may have been a factor.

There was no one in the car when deputies arrived at the intersection of 117th Avenue and 207th Street near Pine Lake.

An airplane from the New Richmond airport assisted, and after an extensive search, a Department of Natural Resources warden found Wolle's body in the lake. She was 38 years old.

The Star-Tribune newspaper reported Monday that Wolle was the mother of five children, ages 2 to 15. She worked for UnitedHealth Group’s Optum division and taught business classes online.

Wolle's body was removed to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office in St. Paul for an autopsy.

Also assisting in the search were sheriff’s deputies, United Fire and Rescue and Baldwin emergency medical personnel.

The incident remains under investigation by the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Department.
