UPDATE: Good Neighbor Days Medallion found
The second annual Central St. Croix Area Chamber of Commerce Good Neighbor Days Medallion Hunt is officially over. The medallion was found on Tuesday, May 31.
Nate Hetrick and his twin 4-year-old sons Caleb and Cory found the medallion the same day the first clue was posted on the chamber's website.
Hetrick said he read the first clue online a little after 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, and found the medallion hanging under a bench in Memorial Park by 12:30 p.m.
The Hetrick family (Nate, his wife Kelly, daughters Carly and Caty and sons Caleb and Cory) plans on spending the $250 prize money by going on some rides at Nickelodeon Universe and the Waterpark of America in Bloomington
The CSCACOC will sponsor another medallion hunt later this summer, during Hammond Heartland Days.
Other Good Neighbor Days events are happening throughout the weekend.
This year's event runs June 2-5, with plenty of activities planned for all four days.
Roberts Lions President Gerilynne Wood said planning for the event is "going really great" thanks to a dedicated committee of 18 members.
Wood said the Lions and community have a fun-filled weekend planned and everyone is hoping for good weather.
"I've ordered four days of beautiful sunshine," Wood joked.
Wood hopes residents attend Good Neighbor Days to have fun and socialize with fellow residents.
Money raised through Good Neighbor Days goes back into the community, Wood said.
Anyone who buys a booklet of six raffle tickets for $5 will receive a free Good Neighbor Days button. Individuals who have a Good Neighbor Days button will get $1 off admission to the Miss Roberts Queen Pageant on Saturday evening. The grand prize for the raffle is an Apple iPad. Other raffle prizes range from $150 to $50 in cash.
This year's musical themed medallion hunt started on Tuesday, May 31. The clues could be the name of a song, lyrics from a song, or artist/group. Clues will be posted on the Central St. Croix Area Chamber of Commerce website (www.cscacoc.com). After finding each clue, find the local Roberts business that the clue is describing to find the next clue. Each clue will be released one day at a time, but find the medallion faster by finding the local Roberts business with the next clue.
(These clues describe any Roberts business within the Village of Roberts and the Roberts Business Park.)
The winner of the $250 grand prize will be announced during Sunday's Demolition Derby.
Thursday's events start at 5:30 p.m. with a Community Appreciation Dinner in the park.
Events continue until 10 p.m., with amusement rides from Dairy Land Amusements, a kickball tournament and live music. Admission is free to all bands, all weekend long.
The fun continues on Friday with a beanbag tournament, more rides, bingo, a tractor pull, softball tournament and live music. The "Boondoggles" will entertain residents starting at 7 p.m. and "The Dweebs" will follow around 9:30 p.m.
Saturday is the busiest of all four Good Neighbor Days.
In the morning around 8 a.m. a pancake breakfast, run/walk and used book sale will get residents energized for the rest of the day's activities. The car show on Main Street starts at 9 a.m. and runs through 3 p.m.
Afternoon activities include a Kiddie Parade at 11 a.m. along Division Street, at noon the Badger State Dirt Flingers and Bragging Rights Truck and Tractor Pull begins, followed by a water fight and kids tractor pull.
The Good Neighbor Award and Miss Roberts Queen Pageant starts at 6 p.m. at the elementary school. Fireworks at dusk and live music by "Under Achievers" will wrap up Saturday.
Sunday's main event is the Grand Parade, starting at 1 p.m. A demolition derby and other activities will follow the parade.
