UPDATE: Lake Elmo man injured in motorcycle vs. car accident

Emergency crews worked at the scene of a motorcycle vs. car accident Thursday afternoon along Highway 65 south of New Richmond.

Emergency crews responded to a motorcycle vs. car accident on Highway 65 south of New Richmond Thursday afternoon.

Dispatch alerted the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department, New Richmond Fire Department and the New Richmond Area Ambulance and Rescue Service at around 2:45 p.m. The scene of the accident was just north of the intersection of Highway 65 and County Road G.

According to St. Croix County Sheriff Dennis Hillstead, Robert Bassett, Jr., 62, of Lake Elmo, Minn. was transported to Westfields Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

Bassett's 2004 Harley Davidson was traveling southbound on Highway 65 when he approached the entrance for Prism Plastics. A 2004 Ford, driver by Linda Gordon, Forest Lake, Minn., allegedly pulled out in front of Bassett.

According to the sheriff's report, Bassett tried to avoid a collision but struck the front of Gordon's car, sending him into the east ditch.

Traffic was backed up along Highway 65 for more than a half hour while emergency crews worked at the scene.

No additional information on the accident was available.
