This was posted on the New Richmond School District website:

"The New Richmond Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Students, please check with your coach/advisor regarding after school activities."

This is an inclement weather message from the St. Croix Central School District.

This was posted on the St. Croix Central School District website:

"Due to the severe cold and dangerous wind chill, school will be closed Tuesday, Jan 7. All after school activities are also canceled."

This is an inclement weather message from the Somerset School District.

This was posted on the Somerset School District website:

"Somerset Schools will be closed all day tomorrow, Tuesday, January 7, 2014, due to the National Weather Service’s wind chill advisory. All after school activities and events will be held."

New Richmond, St. Croix Central and Somerset schools are all closed tomorrow, Monday, Jan. 6, due to expected frigid temperatures and dangerous wind chills. According to district websites, some are considering closing Tuesday, Jan. 7 too.

A message posted on the New Richmond School District website said:

“School is cancelled on Monday, Jan. 6 and activities, events and practices on Jan. 6 and Sunday, Jan. 5 are also canceled.

The decision to hold school on Tuesday, Jan. 7 will be made Monday evening or early Tuesday morning as the district monitors the weather conditions. The decisions made by the district to delay or cancel school are made with the safety of students as a high priority.”

St. Croix Central posted this cancellation on their district website:

“Due to the severe cold and dangerous wind chill, school will be closed Monday, Jan 6. All after school activities are also cancelled. Stay warm, be safe, and have a great day.”

Somerset district administrator Randy Rosburg made this statement Friday afternoon concerning the frigid temperatures expected Monday:

“This is an inclement weather message from the Somerset School District. Due to the National Weather Service’s predicted wind chill warning for this weekend and into the first part of next week the Somerset School District has cancelled activities, events and practices beginning after 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4 and continuing through Sunday, Jan. 5.

School is cancelled on Monday, Jan. 6 and activities, events and practices on Monday, Jan. 6 are also cancelled. School board committee meetings on Monday, Jan. 6 will be rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 13.

Families should make arrangements for Monday, Jan. 6 childcare if needed. The decision to hold school on Tuesday, Jan. 7 will be made Monday evening or early Tuesday morning. The decisions made by the district to delay or cancel school are made with the safety of students as a high priority. Please know that regardless of the district’s decision, parents have the right to decide to keep their student(s) home when they feel weather conditions are too risky.”

Somerset Board of Education committee meetings will be rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 13.
