Organizers were keeping an eye on a line of thunderstorms that were moving into the Twin Cities around 4 p.m. Thursday. Thankfully nothing materialized around Somerset.

"The clouds graced us for hours with a beautiful, ever-changing show of red, bright and blue, but it only sprinkled here, briefly," said Sharon Pomaville, Apple River Country Splash Marketing & Advertising Coordinator. "It cooled to a nice 73 degrees, the fans stayed until the end and everyone had a good time with Tanya and Travis."

According to Pomaville, marketing and advertising coordinator for Apple River Country Splash, there were several new additions to the festival this year.

A new campground holding 200 sites will be within walking distance of the festival. Country Kidsville, an entertainment area for kids 12 and younger, is also new, as is an extreme sports show with the entertainment exhibits changed daily.

For those who are "super fans," there will be a Super Fan Area which includes backstage with the band, live interviews, Q&A from the fans, tours, artist autographs and souvenir merchandise.

For more information about the concert, call the box office at 715-247-5959 or 877-356-2808.

The Somerset Police and Somerset Fire/Rescue departments are also pumping up their staff to accommodate the expected crowds.
