UPDATE: Young woman dies in I-94 accident
A 22-year-old Woodville woman was thrown from the car she was driving and died in an accident that occurred on I-94 near Hammond Tuesday morning.
The woman was identified Tuesday evening as Kelsey R. Lee.
According to Lt. Jeff Lorentz of the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash occurred at 10:19 a.m. May 1 at Milepost 15.5 in St. Croix County.
Lorentz said the car was westbound on I-94 and made contact with a semi unit also traveling west. The car subsequently veered off the road and overturned multiple times.
According to State Patrol reports, Lee, who was alone in the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The semi driver - identified as Troy D. Otto, 41, Bloomer, was also alone in his vehicle and was not injured.
The semi is owned by F J Schiling Inc. of Chippewa Falls.
The crash remains under investigation by the State Patrol.
Assisting agencies included United Fire and Rescue, Baldwin EMS, St. Croix County Highway Department and Jerry's Towing.
