'Urinetown' musical features NR graduate
The University of Wisconsin-River Falls presents "Urinetown: The Musical" Oct. 22-24 and 29-31 with performances at 7:30 p.m. in the Blanche Davis Theatre in the Kleinpell Fine Arts building on campus.
"Urinetown" is a comedic satire with music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and based on a book by Kotis. It satirizes many American truisms, including capitalism, small town politics, social and corporate irresponsibility, corporate greed and populism. The unconventional plotline shatters audience expectations of a pleasant ending. The production is directed by UW-RF communication studies and theater arts professor James Zimmerman.
Among the cast of 22 is Josh Pritchett, a senior music major from New Richmond, playing Senator Fipp; Kelsey Hansen, a freshman music education major from Hudson, playing Hope Cladwell; James Davis, a senior computer science major from Baldwin, playing Old Man Strong; and Garner Jarrett, a sophomore theater arts major from Hudson.
