UW-Eau Claire still in hunt for NCAA softball crown
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is one of three teams still in the hunt for the NCAA Division 3 softball championship.
The Blugolds won two elimination games in the loser's bracket Sunday.
They beat Emory of Georgia 3-1 and Plattsburgh State of New York 6-5.
UW-Eau Claire will play top-seeded Linfield of Oregon Monday in the final of the loser's bracket. That winner will then have a shot at unbeaten Washington of St. Louis later Monday for the national crown.
Mandy Tschernach went 3 for 3 for UW-Eau Claire against Emory and she drove in two runs including the game-winner.
Against Plattsburgh, the Blugolds came back from a 5-0 deficit. Bekki Kidnie hit a walk-off single, as UW-Eau Claire improved to 38-11 overall.
Monday's opponent, Linfield, is 42-and-7.
