UW-Stout student dies in one-vehicle crash
A University of Wisconsin-Stout student from Clear Lake, Minn., died Thursday morning, Jan. 15, in a one-vehicle accident on Interstate 94 near Monticello, Minn., according to UW-Stout officials.
Jacob W. Jaeckels, 21, a senior in the packaging engineering program, died at the scene of the crash about 6:30 a.m., according to the Minnesota State Patrol, news reports indicated.
Authorities said he was eastbound on I-94 by himself when he lost control, rolled and was thrown from his vehicle. Road conditions were icy.
Jaeckels was an intern at the Adalis Corp. in Minnesota and was on his way to work when the accident occurred.
Campus officials say that the Foley Funeral Home in Foley, Minn., is in charge of the arrangements.
