Village holds caucus

Incumbents on the Star Prairie Village Board Andrew Marrier and Michael (Mick) Maxon were nominated for re-election at the Village caucus Tuesday, Jan. 8.

Unless write-in candidates are received by the Village, Marrier and Maxon will run unopposed, according to Village Clerk/Treasurer Patsy Johnson.

A monthly Village Board meeting followed the caucus Jan. 8.

• Board members discussed funding for a second Village well.

Greg Gibson, Village Board president, said he wants to finish the Village Comprehensive Plan before discussing the second well.

The comprehensive plan is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer 2008, at which time discussion of a location for the second well could begin.

• Timothy Scott, Village attorney, had some questions regarding extending the cable franchise agreement with Northwest Community Communications.

Scott will draft a letter to Northwest outlining his concerns before the agreement is accepted.

• The Village still has no building inspector. Mick Maxon has been unable to contact the person he intends to approach regarding interest in the position.

John Frisco, building inspector for the city of New Richmond, has agreed to help out in the Village should the need arise before an inspector is hired.

• The Village received notice that a claim filed by Ilene J. Bottolfson against the Village of Star Prairie has been settled.

Bottolfson fell in front of the Star Prairie Post Office Jan. 30, 2006. The settlement was for the statutory limit of $50,000.
