Walmart completes remodeling
New Richmond Wisconsin 127 South Knowles Avenue 54017

After eight years of operation, New Richmond's Walmart received a facelift.

Employees finished an eight-week remodel of the store last week and hosted a re-grand opening on July 19 to celebrate.

Employees at Walmart were promised a remodel last year; however, the project kept getting pushed back.

Along with changing the placement of some products, the remodel includes new displays for fresh produce, new low-profile shelving near the self-checkout machines, new signage and a new and improved craft and sewing department that includes fabric.

"This is a very popular store and it was time for us to give the store the latest upgrades available, as well as improve the overall shopping experience for our New Richmond customers," said Rachel Wall, senior manager of communications at Walmart.

The new layout is designed to improve the customer experience and expand the selection in various sections -- like electronics and the DIY section.

Sandy Schleicher, store manager, along with 61 other associates, have been with the New Richmond Walmart since it opened in October 2008. She said it's because of the employees that the remodel went as smoothly as it did.

Departments that were remodeled include:

Housewares [aka "home-lines" in Walmart]

• Toys

• Electronics

• Self checkout registers near grocery department

• Grocery, including new bakery oven, deli fryer, new rotisserie oven, new glazer and cake decorating equipment
