Windows to sparkle with holiday cheer
Window shopping in New Richmond will be a little more fun for area customers this holiday season.
A total of 28 New Richmond businesses have partnered together to offer two new holiday promotions - the "Windows of Christmas" and "Window of Gifts."
The promotions are being coordinated by Lisa Woletz, sales representative with the New Richmond News.
"I got the idea from some different things I've been involved in in the past," Woletz said. "I'm genuinely interested in bringing more traffic to town and to our businesses."
For the "Windows of Christmas" promotion, participating businesses have agreed to decorate their windows with extra pizazz for the Christmas holiday. Window decorating is scheduled to be completed by Friday, Nov. 30.
The general public will then have a chance to scope out the various windows in New Richmond and cast their vote for their favorites. Voting will take place from Dec. 1 to 16 on the New Richmond News' website, www.newrichmond-news.com. Voting will take place in three separate categories: Most Traditional, Most Contemporary and Most Creative.
For the "Window of Gifts" contest, each participating business will donate an individually-wrapped gift worth $25 or more to the display planned for the window at 207 S. Knowles Ave., next to the Williamson Siler Law Office.
Customers can enter the "Window of Gifts" drawing at any of the participating businesses. Entry slips will be available at each of the businesses from Dec. 1 to Dec. 16.
A winning entry will be selected on Monday, Dec. 17, and that individual will receive the entire window of gifts just in time for Christmas. There is no purchase necessary for people to sign up for the drawing. The winner will be featured in the Dec. 20 edition of the New Richmond News.
"Close to 30 items will be under the tree," Woletz said. "And the winner won't know what's in the gifts until they open them up."
Woletz said the participating businesses are excited to see how the new promotions fare.
"The businesses are enthused to have something new brought to the community," she said. "And they're excited about bringing new customers into their businesses."
The businesses that are participating in the holiday promotion include Champs Sports Bar & Grill, Douville Bakery, NP Design & Photography, Travel Leaders, Sweet Greetings, Patina, JET's Coffee Bistro, Cox Motors, Heidi's Hallmark/The Jewelry Shop, Crazy Ladies Kitchen, Chickadee Doo Da, First National Community Bank, Barb's Hairtique, St. Croix Automotive, Fore Moore's Indoor Mini Golf, One Man's Trash Antiques, Comfortably Simple, New Richmond News, Discount Smokes, Westconsin Credit Union, Breaktime Café, Williamson & Siler Law Office, New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce, Glam Salon, Mason Chiropractic, Remington Law Office, Ready Randy's, Greaton's Designing Jewelers and JA Counter & Associates.
Participating businesses in the two promotions will be easily identified by a Christmas gift emblem displayed at each establishment. Entry slips and a collection box will be inside each site.
"It's not just a downtown event," Woletz explained. "There are businesses participating from throughout New Richmond."
