Winter refuses to let up. A heavy snow warning is in effect tonight (Tuesday) for parts of northeast Wisconsin.

Up to 8 inches could be on the ground by this time Wednesday between Shawano and Forest counties.

North central areas could get up to 6 inches.

One-inch is in the forecast as far south as Viroqua.

Madison could get also snow but it's not supposed to accumulate.

It's supposed to rain in the Milwaukee area with isolated thunderstorms possible late this afternoon and tonight.

You can blame all this on a low-pressure system that's supposed to move across far southern Wisconsin tonight. Most of the snow we get will probably melt Wednesday.

It's supposed to be in the 40s statewide.

The National Weather Service says a more intense storm system is due here on Friday.

Heavy rains will be possible in southern Wisconsin while the north could see both rain and snow.
