Wisconsin's two U.S. senators vote to increase food aid to poor

Democrats Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold were in the majority Tuesday, when the Senate approved a $124 billion agriculture spending bill on an 80-17 vote.

More than two-thirds of the package is for domestic food programs, including $61 billion for food stamps which would make millions more people eligible.

More than 34 million Americans were getting food stamps in May, about 6 million more than the previous year.
