Somerset teen joins Festival Theater cast

Directors of the Festival Theatre Conservatory for Young Performers (FTCYP), a summer theatre arts initiative for youth, have selected the cast for its upcoming production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Opening Saturday, July 20, this production combines ten area youth actors with eight members of the professional summer company.

Representing several local communities, the youth cast members are Hunter Teasley (Somerset), Sarah Coppenbarger (Grantsburg), Asher Cress (Centuria), Emily Kessler (St. Croix Falls), Ahna Mayo (Osceola), Ella Middleton (Dresser), Fiona Nieve (North Branch, Minn.), Noah Neault (Centuria), Stephen Rice (Milltown) and Sally Sutton (St. Croix Falls).

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” by William Shakespeare is full of the language challenges well-known to those who read Shakespeare. Just learning what each line means and how to speak it correctly takes considerable time and practice, a challenge for any performer. This and other performance techniques are taught at the conservatory workshops by Director Jennie Ward and guest artists from around the country, who are performing in this production and others in the summer rotating repertory.

Patrons will have six opportunities to see the show, opening during Wannigan Days with 2 p.m. matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday, July 20 and 21. “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” will join the rotating repertory schedule at Festival Theatre in St. Croix Falls through Thursday, Aug. 8.

Tickets are $13.50 for adults and $8.50 for youth. Reservations can be made online at, or by calling the box office at 715-483-3387.
