Stricker shot a six-under-par 66 Thursday, three strokes behind co-leaders Adam Scott and Johnson Wagner.
They set a new course record with 63’s, and Scott was fighting a case of strep throat.
The only other Wisconsin player is Appleton native J.P. Hayes. He’s tied for 81st at one-over-73.
