The Old Gem Theater presents “Number the Stars” on Saturday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m.

Based on Lois Lowry’s Newbery Award winning novel, “Number the Stars” tells the story of Annemarie Johansen, a young Danish girl who helps her Jewish friends escape Nazi-occupied Denmark during World War II.

As the Nazi control over Denmark tightens its stranglehold, Jewish stores are being shut down and entire families are being relocated to concentration camps.

“Number the Stars” features Old Gem Youth Ensemble members: Claire Wallerich of Stillwater and Misty Price, Abby Koller, Heidi Germain, Megan Hanafee-Major and Mya Ennis all of New Richmond.

Old Gem Professional Company members, Kara Greshwalk (Minneapolis), Matt Franta (Bloomington), and Tom Monn (Woodbury) are also featured.

Tickets are $11 for adults, $9 for children. Weekday matinees for groups are available through March 21.
