To the Editor:

West Elementary has announced its progress in the 2007-08 Box Tops for Education fund-raising campaign as well as the Race for Box Tops Contest.

Earlier this fall, the school set a goal of earning $1,994. Thanks to the help of dedicated school supporters, the school has earned $1,104 from the October submission and is expecting to receive another outstanding check in April for an additional $1,616.60. This is super news!

That totals more than $2,720 for the 2007-08 school year. That is $1,100 more than last year. Great job everyone!

A huge part of the success is due to the Race for Box Tops Contest. The first place winner goes to Mrs. Hawley’s class with 1,198 box tops. They will enjoy a pizza party to celebrate.

The second place winner goes to Ms. DeGear’s class with 1,126 box tops. They will be enjoying a frozen treat.

And the third place winner goes to Mrs. Guinn’s class with 988 box tops. A popcorn party is their treat.

A big congratulations to a job well done.

Four other very close classes worth mentioning are: Mrs. Crisp, Mrs. Swetlik, Mrs. Martell, and Mr. Loney with box tops totaling: 736, 761, 837 and 839, respectively.

This year, the first grade will be using the box top money to purchase carts for math materials as well as plenty of classroom supplies such as dry erase markers.

Thank you all for participating and supporting West Elementary.

In September, we will have three elementary schools that will need your support. Continue to collect box tops now and throughout the summer and be mindful of the expiration dates, please. Send the box tops to the school of your choice: East, West, or the new school, to the attention of “Box Top Coordinator.”

Beaming with joy for the success at West.
