‘Chocolate Factory’ sweetens Old Gem stage

The Old Gem Theater presents, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” on Saturday, May 10, at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, May 11, at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 31, at 10:30 a.m. and Sunday, June 1, at 6 p.m.

One of the most beloved children’s books of the twentieth century, Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” tells the story of Charlie Bucket, an ordinary boy with extraordinary luck.

Charlie discovers a golden ticket that allows him to join a tour of Willy Wonka’s magical candy factory.

The Old Gem’s original adaptation of the story follows the eccentric Willy Wonka as he guides the lucky golden ticket winners, Charlie and four other very naughty children, through his factory where they discover marvelous and enchanting things and each child gets just what he or she deserves.

“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” features the Old Gem Theater Professional Acting Company and Young Performers’ Ensemble.

The cast includes: Alisha Blackman, Kara Olson, Alaina Kuhlman, Brady Hanafee-Major, Megan Hanafee-Major , Emma Gaede, Laura Gagnon, Liam Mehls, Wesley Noble, Brooke Noble, Samantha Sir, Sam Gauper, Mariah Drury, Stephanie Nelson, Matt Nelson, Jacob Sorenson, Christian Kenney all from New Richmond; Claire Wallerich, Sophie Wallerich and Matthew Treacy, from Stillwater; Tim Uren and Virginia Haggart of Minneapolis; and Rita Tredal of Roberts.
