Wisconsin State Patrol officials have released the name of the man killed in an early Friday morning one-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 94 in Eau Claire.
Officials say that Severo R. Aguillo Jr., 70, Chicago, died when the 2001 Ford SUV he was driving rolled over on the Interstate.
Injured in the crash was an 8-year-old boy from Belvedere, Ill., who authorities believe is the grandson of Aguillo.
State Patrol officials say the SUV was heading westbound when the accident happened at around 5:40 a.m. near mile-marker 67, approximately one mile west of Highway 93.
The child was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with minor injuries. A State Patrol spokesperson said the child's parents are on their way to Eau Claire to get the boy.
Initially State Patrol officials reported that the driver was not wearing a seat belt, however a later report indicated that it was not known whether Aguillo was wearing a seat belt.
"We will have to wait for the findings from our accident reconstruction team to determine if he was wearing a seat belt," said the spokesperson.
