The New Richmond Regional Airport will be getting $2,061,832 for an improvement project.
The Federal Aviation Administration is contributing $1,958,740 to the project, while the state and city of New Richmond will each contribute $51,546.
According to Gayle Stearn, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the funds will be used to reconstruct approximately 4,000 feet of Runway 14/32.
The project also includes construction of a taxiway, pavement marking, airfield lighting and safety area grading.
Construction is expected to begin this month and will be completed by the spring of 2009.
Currently, 124 aircraft are based at the airport and there are approximately 41,500 take-offs and landings each year.
