A three-vehicle accident sent three people to hospitals Saturday afternoon.
Joyce L. Gangl, 76, Amery, was driving a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire with a passenger, June J. Wienke, Amery, east on Highway 64 at 12:18 p.m. Saturday when she made a left hand turn to go north on Highway T.
Gangl allegedly turned in front of a 2001 Ford Escort going westbound on Highway 64, which was being driven by Kathleen O. Lutz, 72, Amery. Lutz’s passenger was Dennis L. Lutz, also of Amery.
According to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s report, as Kathleen Lutz saw Gangl turn, she swerved to the left to avoid the vehicle and hit the right rear of Gangl’s car.
Lutz then entered the eastbound lane of traffic striking a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Billie J. Briese, 20, New Richmond, head-on. Briese was not travelling with any passengers.
Three occupants of the vehicles were transported to Westfields Hospital. Briese and Dennis Lutz were then transferred by ambulance to Regions Hospital.
Briese is currently still at Regions Hospital in fair condition and Lutz is also at Regions listed in critical condition.
Kathleen Lutz is at Westfields Hospital in New Richmond listed in good condition.
Gangl received a citation for inattentive driver as she allegedly said she did not see Lutz’s vehicle when she made the left turn.
