Elwood was born the son of Elmer and Viola (Swanson) Edin on Aug. 22, 1931 in Branstad, Wis. As a boy he attended Branstad Elementary School and was an avid fan of singing cowboys Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. Later he moved to the Twin Cities to drive truck for Montgomery Ward.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Viola Edin; and his wife, Phyllis Edin.
Elwood’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Vanessa Frye for the dedicated care and comforting friendship that so eased Elwood’s later life. Thanks also to her husband, Tom.
